Today is Giving Tuesday - a day where we who work for nonprofits seek to convince others of the righteousness of our cause.

Here's my pitch.

The public and charter schools of HUSD and LAUSD are not what every parent wants for their child. Where many parents have the opportunity to opt out by moving to a different school district, paying full cost of a private school, or even home-schooling; our families cannot afford that. 70% of our families are at or near the poverty line.

Where many parents can advocate for better schools and work the system to demand change; our families cannot do that. 75% of our families know English as a second language.

Where many parents can teach the faith at home or do not have a religious preference; our families do. 98% of our families are Catholic.

We are able to offer music, art, PE, STEM lab, sports, clubs, a beautiful campus, and a vibrant community because we have 270 families that have made the choice to sacrifice and send their child(ren) to our school.

10% of our operating budget comes from outside donors and grants.

30% of our operating budget comes from fundraising.

40% of our families receive financial assistance.

100% of our families want to be here.

How can you help these families have a choice that so many in America have - the choice of a good school?

3. Help a Catholic school near you. All of our schools could use your help in order to fulfill our mission to educate each child that wants it.
