Generating a schedule can be one of the most frustrating aspects of school leadership. Figuring out so many moving parts is a huge pain. I worked with a leader in Virginia to have some AI assistance in starting off a first draft.

There is a tool that I know one school is using: https://www.timetablemaster.com/timetable-generator-ai

That being said, I think you could set up something in Gemini/ChatGPT/Claude. You can start with just a basic prompt: "You are an expert in scheduling and I am looking for a schedule to ensure that nothing conflicts. Create a 9 period bell schedule for a high school with the following start times" and then add details from there such as "add in two prep periods for classes", "I have three science and two math teachers, incorporate that into the schedule" etc. Etc.

You could then add in "Ask any questions you need to ensure the most optimized schedule based on the guidelines I provided." Maybe even provide a previous schedule?

With that aspect, we were able to have a tweak-able rough draft!
