Following up on my July 1 first post: "Gemini Summer?" and from July 18 "Gemini's Assent and A Modest Proposal," we continue to see Google Education recognize the market and its penetration with GoogleEd and Classroom. Just as MagicSchool and SchoolAI have sought to provide educators with "training wheels" around prompting, Google has released 27 pre-made AI prompt tools within Classroom for teachers.

From Eric Curts:

At the moment there are 27 AI tools in the collection, which are broken into two main groups. 13 of the tools have colorful icons in front of them, and I am going to call these "Template" tools. The other 14 tools have a blue star instead, and I am going to call these "Gemini Prompt" tools.

The template tools fall into the output category - creation of things based on the provided parameters for teachers to review before using themselves. These include lesson plans, choice boards, rubrics, translations, et al.

The prompt tools vary between output and input, but essentially start a chat with pre-selected prompt (from one of the 14 you choose). This allows more customization and is essentially a gpt in the ChatGPT-verse or gem in the Google-verse.

These tools are all free - you just need access to Google Classroom. [How to do that can be found in this guide from GCFGlobal]. I would assume that these first 27 are just a start and like Brisk, other AI companies will quickly find Google using its free offerings and large market cap to capture market share, increased data, and early users with an aim to future revenue and users.

To learn more, I'd recommend Eric's post or hist 19 minute tutorial video.
