One of the things that makes my mentors stand out is the fact that they make sure to practice what they preach. If we are dedicated to forming lifelong learners, then we need to make sure that we are always learning to.

How do I do this?

Three ways:

1. Podcasts - Using the Overcast App - I listen to 4-12 podcasts a day (2 times speed!) to turn drive, workout, and chore time into learning time. Podcasts that I subscribe to cover topics from History to Culture and Sports to Educational Best Practices and Politics. If there's a subject you want to learn more about, there's probably a good podcast out there for it. At some point, I'll share my feed - if people want.

2. Twitter - I use Tweetbot and a curated list to follow about 30 specific news, Catholic, and educational accounts to stay up on things without getting bogged down in all 300+ people I follow. At night and on the weekends, I'll use the mainfeed, but constructing a list of follows can make sure that you can see what you want without being on Twitter all day. I don't find a Facebook group as supportive. Email newsletters can be a good substitute for this too - if you don't mind the clutter. At some point, I'll share my recommendations - if people want.

3. Reading - the articles I get via email or twitter end up in my Pocket - a great app which creates an easy to read format (with archiving and highlighting ability) for any webpage (including video). I can then share or favorite them for later distribution. Lastly, the combination of eBook checkout from the public library and the Kindle App (and my Kindle itself for distraction free reading) have kept my fiction thirst largely sated.

How do other people ensure they are always learning?
